Funny to see the chipmunk song was a hit in 1958 and now the movie is out 50 years later, and I thought it took them a long time to put out the Simpsons movie. Here's a blurb from Wikipedia about people born during the 'baby boom'
'The baby boomers were the first group to be raised with televisions in the home, and television has been identified as "the institution that solidified the sense of generational identity more than any other."[7] Starting in the 1940s, people in diverse geographic locations could watch the same shows, listen to the same news, laugh at the same jokes. Television shows such as Father Knows Best and Leave it to Beaver showed idealized family settings. Later, the boomers watched scenes from the Vietnam War and the assassinations of John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Robert F. Kennedy.
The boomers found that their music, most notably rock and roll, was another expression of their generational identity. Transistor radios were personal devices that allowed teenagers to listen to The Beatles and The Motown Sound.'
2008 is on it's way, so 2007 was a pretty good year. trying to think of some stuff that happened in the Cohen house that was big...well of course first of all Devin was born on Nov 27 and Alyssa turned 5 this year, and had a HUGE party to celebrate. We rented a bounce house, cotton candy machine (which i ran((pretty well too i must say)), and a snow cone machine which i also ran. Let's see what else happened...well Heather was pregnant for most of the year, from March till November. I worked alot of hours, I started working weekends and according to my last pay check i made alot more than i did last year almost $4,000 altho i have no idea where that money goes. I started my blog in this year, yah. I got a tatoo on my right arm of celtic banding with the zodiac sign for cancer in the middle of it for Alyssa, that was in july i believe. In January or February i swore i was never gonna get drunk again after a bad night at the Playwright in New Haven, then went back on that in September haha. but really haven't drank since that, maybe a glass of wine or two at christmas. Along with Devin we had an different addition earlier in the year when Harley joined our house to replace Eggnog who died mid-year. Also in mid-year we took our first cross country road trip when we drove to visit my sister and family in Florida. That was a fun trip, we went down via Asheville,NC and it took forever to get there, we hit heavy rain and thunderstorms on our first day and it slowed us down alot, the drive was very boring too down I-81. We came home 95 and it was much easier and quicker, except when we got lost in Richmond trying to find our hotel, and when we called them for directions they didn't seem to know where they were located. Right before we left for Florida Heather and I had our reception party to celebrate our marriage the August before,we had it at Eli's and it was a buffet brunch, I think that all went well. So all in all it was a busy year for us, deaths and births and marriage and driving 15 hrs straight, so here's to 2008 hopefully it won't be as busy as 2007 was.
Merry Christmas to all...and to Bush a goodbye. I remember my mother saying once that "the little drummer boy" is her favorite christmas carol, here's a better version. OBAMA 08!!!
Last night with my christmas bonus at hand the Cohen Clan headed to the Milford Mall to start the task of christmas shopping. If I had to grade our first night out shopping I'd give us a D, for didn't get nothing done. Wasn't all our fault tho, we ran into person after person that we knew. first of all i've got to say that i got the best parking spot ever last night, one that would rival the spot that George got at the hospital on Seinfeld. The car was about 50 feet from the door of Dick's Sporting Goods on the top of the garage, so we went in thru Dick's and headed straight for the food court because Devin needed a change and it was 6pm and you can't shop on an empty stomach, so Dev got changed and i got some of my favorite mall food...the over sauced, over fried, so crispy you could break a tooth...mall chinese food. Heather and Alyssa opted for Johnny Rockets, so as we were finishing eating, Heidi came walking into the food court, then I looked to my right and saw my friend Anthony and his wife and kid (who attaches herself to Alyssa btw) so dinner went a little bit longer, then walking down the hall we ran into the people who live on the first floor (laurie and amanda). okay so all this is over now, oh until we run into Anthony and family again by the Disney store, and Alyssa and Kylie go shopping together in the store (we were attempting to get to Target) so after a few mins we're back on our mission to Target. This went not so well either...Alyssa seems to have lost her listening skills, altho i did get her to sit nicely in a carriage most of the time, and we drew a blank as to what to get anybody as we went up and down the aisles. so we picked out a few things (and i mean few) and after about an hour or so Devin was due to eat again anyway, so we sat in Starbucks and fed him while Alyssa entertained an old man who was just enthralled with her and giving her a 'kids say' type interview. And Alyssa who is properly trained about the current state of the nation wasted no time in reciting her anti-Bush propaganda which I instilled in her (pat on my back). Did you know that George Bush hates kids and wants to make Christmas illegal? hehehe. so that's it for now, today we're going out without the kids to get the rest of the shopping done.
