Big story from Marvel and Sony Studios!!!

Reuters/Hollywood Reporter

"With Heath Ledger's villainous Joker drawing attention and box office dollars, Sony is moving forward with "Venom," a potential "Spider-Man" spinoff based on a bad guy.

The studio is developing the project, based on the gooey nemesis who appeared in 2007's "Spider-Man 3" and is hoping the character could serve as an antidote to the aging "Spider-Man" franchise just as Fox has used Wolverine to add longevity to its "X-Men" franchise.

But getting any spinoff off the ground, let alone one centered on a villain, can be tricky.

The studio had commissioned a draft of the script from Jacob Estes, a writer of the specialty film "Mean Creek," released several years ago by Paramount Classics. But the studio is considering going in a different direction from Estes' script and is seeking writers for a new draft.

Casting also is no simple matter. Topher Grace of "That '70s Show" fame played the character in the film, but Sony is not yet convinced the actor can carry a big "tentpole" picture.

Neither Sony nor Marvel would comment for this story.

In "Spider-Man 3," Venom is essentially a parasite that attaches itself to a host via a sticky substance that then gives the host special powers. The fact that it is a substance rather than a character could give Sony leeway to cast a new actor.

"Venom" came about as part of the licensing deal between Marvel and Sony for the Spider-Man movies, which contained provisions allowing for the use of spinoffs based on other Spider-Man characters.

The project is part of a larger feeding frenzy for superhero projects, scores of which have been signed up in the last few months while movies such as "Iron Man" and "The Dark Knight" light up the box office.

Sony is developing a fourth "Spider-Man" film for 2011, but that picture would come out nine years after the original movie debuted, adding to the studio's desire to see new Marvel characters."

The economy is fine, it's all in your head

Good news everyone the economy is fine!! There is no problem....as long as you are a multi millionaire. McCain's former adviser says that we are a country of whiners and all these 'problems' are in our head. Well that's good to know. Problem solved, as long as we feel better our bills will be paid, man, and I was worried for a minute there. I guess a gallon of gas isn't really 4.10 oh and so is a gallon of milk. Are food prices rising at Costco? nope it's all in your head. If we felt better and were happier the economy will be better, well that makes sense cuz the only way I'd be happier is if Bush and his GOP cronies were out of office. Then the economy can get better.

I just saw a report on TV that 1 out of 4 bridges in USA needs repairs, it will cost a total of 150 billion dollars to fix all the bridges. Lets not worry about that tho, lets keep spending 3 billion a month on making life better for Iraq, good idea. The Iraqi's could blow each other up till their all dead for all I care, how about fixing this country up and put our troops where they should be like Afghanistan and Pakistan and finally get Bin Laden.

Here's a short vid made by the folks at Moveon.org about how McCain and Bush say we need to be happier then the economy will pick up.

 interesting little article

Here's a little article about one of my biggest pet peeves. I'm glad to see a town doing something about it.

Be careful if you have saggy pants in the south Chicago suburb of Lynwood. Village leaders have passed an ordinance that would levy $25 fines against anyone showing three inches or more of their underwear in public.

Eugene Williams is the mayor of Lynwood. He says young men walk around town half-dressed, keeping major retailers and economic development away. He calls the new law a hot topic.
The American Civil Liberties Union says the ordinance targets young men of color.
Young adults in the village, like 21-year-old Joe Klomes, say the new law infringes on their personal style. He says leaders should instead spend money on making the area look nice.

So what exactly is the personal style that he's looking for? I think making kids pull their pants up is making the area look nice. We have some delinquents at work who like to walk around with their pants down, I have no idea why this is such a fashion statement and I think it's perfectly fine to give tickets to kids who can't put their clothes on correctly. I think the parents should get a fine too for letting them leave the house that way. Some cities here in CT have started a dress code and make kids wear Dockers and polo shirts, which isn't such a bad idea.

The Civil Liberties Union says this targets young men of color, this is retarded. It targets kids who wear their pants around their knees, if most of these kids are black that's not the fault of the lawmakers but of the asshole kids who are doing it. Like I've said before I may vote democrat but I'm no liberal, and while I do think some censorship is over the top this is one issue I can get behind.

 Big update

It's been a while since I've updated so since I've got nothing to do right now, that's what I'll do.

Devin has his first ear infection, which we found by accident. He wasn't showing signs of infection just coughing more than usual and when Heather took him to see the doctor they found the infection. He will have to stay out of the pool for a few days and take his antibiotics and he'll be good to go. BTW almost 8 months old and still no teeth. Alyssa is loving day camp, they go to the splash pool at Lighthouse twice a week and last week took a trip to the Palace Theater in Stamford to see a puppet show, which she said was good. For her birthday Heather took Alyssa and her friend to Quassy for the day, she liked it better than six flags which is good cuz it's half the price.

I haven't talked politics in a while and I will tonight, why? Because I can so ha. I heard McCain and Obama talking about how to fix the economy and it seems to be basic R vs D talk there. One says when the CEO's and big business have more money we'll all be better off and the other says it's working middle class that runs this country and they need the tax breaks. I don't need to tell you who said what it's basic ideas of each party. But I will tell you what I do like, and maybe some Republicans might like too is Obama endorsing self responsibility. Being responsible for your own actions, not just expecting handouts, show some class. I like this approach better, because it is WORKING middle class that needs the help. I am tired of people who don't want to do anything looking for handouts, living off of and cheating welfare and not doing anything to change their situation. This reminds me of a talk I had years and years ago with my grandfather (who is a strict republican),we were going on a fishing trip and I believe the Bush/Clinton elections were going on...I'm not gonna put quotes here cuz I don't want to mis-quote anything he said. Basically he told me to succeed in life you work hard, work hard in school go to a good college and work hard at your job and in the end you'll be rewarded with a good pension, BUT while you work hard and try to bring home a living part of your check is going to people who don't want to work, and the more you make the more the govt will take, the harder you work the more welfare gets, now does that seem fair to you? Of course it didn't seem fair, I work hard so others don't have to work at all. And ya know what even now 15 years later, it's still not fair, and being a Dem or not I still don't like people taking advantage of the welfare system, it's scummy. BUT there are people who try the first approach and fall short...layoffs, jobs moving over seas, cut backs, downsizing, death in the family. Any of these can lead to needing help from the govt. And I think Obama is looking out for these people, the ones who will work two jobs to try to survive. And to the people looking for hand-outs only he's saying take responsibility for yourself, get it together, get a job. This is a bit to the right of usual Democrat thinking, and I do like it (I never was a loyal Dem till Bush came along remember). On the other hand, jobs aren't so easy to find anymore, the economy is struggling, companies are going out, gas prices are soaring, taxi fares go up, bus fares go up, clothes, food, everything goes up. So if you're starting from nothing and want to turn around how do you do it? The CEO's at Shell Oil are making billions and it does nothing to help our economy as Bush and McCain think. I don't know, we're not gonna solve the problems of the world here at life of bryan, this I know. I also know that Bush has gotten us into quite a mess here, we may have to dig up FDR to fix this one, can a corpse do a better job than Bush tho? Probably.
that's all folks goodnight

 Sunday down time

Yesterday was Alyssa's birthday party and this morning it's nice to not have anything to do for a while. I started getting ready for the party at 7am, we had to finish setting up her pool in the backyard and now it's finally done. This pool is 13' round and 39" deep and was a pain to put up and get together. The batteries in our camera are dead so we didn't get any pics but a few people did. We actually have to go to another party later today for Alyssa's friend, they have the same birthday of July 10th but Alyssa is a year older.
I'm halfway through 'the dead zone' by king but haven't had a lot of time lately to really read a lot of pages at once. I was out sick on Thursday but still didn't really get into it. Heather's grandmother just gave me another load of Koontz/King novels so I have plenty for a while to keep me busy.
I've read lately that Obama's lead in polls is going up. last I heard it was about 49% to 40%.

well that's all for now
