I bought my tickets today for Pearl Jam coming to Hartford on June 27, it's a Friday which makes it a little tough but not too bad. Hopefully it'll be a nice day, I saw them two years ago in May and it was rainy and kinda cold, but it was still a great show (we always sit on the lawn at the Meadows so weather is a factor). We really haven't been to alot of shows recently the last 3 concerts I saw I think were all Pearl Jam, maybe the Meatloaf show was in between the first and second altho I'm not sure. There haven't been alot of bands that I've wanted to see lately all the new music sux and anyone who's good charges like 100 dollars per ticket. I wanted to see Crosby,Stills,Nash and Young a couple years ago but that was really expensive and Billy Joel has been around a bit but that's crazy priced too. I keep promising Heather that I'll take her to a country concert since we always go to bands that I want to see, I'd be willing to go to Garth Brooks if he toured again or Toby Keith or something like that, I'm sure it would be a good show either way. It's harder now with two kids and one being so young we don't really want to burden a sitter with a 5 year old and a 4 month old, maybe we'll have one go to one house and the other to another. Devin usually sleeps from about 7 till 10:30 anyway then eats and goes back to sleep around 11 or 11:30 which is when about we'd be home anyway, and Alyssa is in bed by 8:30 on weekends. I hear Stone Temple Pilots is back together and thinking of touring....I'd love to see that. Heather's birthday is coming up so I gotta think of something for that, but I can't talk about that on here cuz she reads my blog.
Saw on the news today that People's Bank up here in New England is closing 20 branches and letting go of about 120 employees...the banks are losing money, people don't have money so neither do the banks...last year 3,000 local businesses closed down, diesel fuel is up to 4.25 a gallon, truck drivers spend $750 to fill the tank and can't afford to send money home to their families, the electric company has raised it's rates by 40% over the past year, foreclosures are up, stocks are down. Where is FDR when you need him? He fixed all of Hoover's mistakes, who do you think is worse Bush or Hoover...I say Bush only because we should have learned from past mistakes and known better. Altho he's never learned anything he thinks pulling out of Vietnam was a mistake, I guess if he actually served he'd think other wise. Thinking about it we really had a great run of Presidents after Hoover, FDR was in office forever then Truman two good Democrats. Leaves hope that once Bush is gone we can get some good leaders in there, like Obama for 8 years then we'll see what happens after that maybe Chelsea Clinton hahaha. alrighty i've gone on long enough I'll leave you with this...
I was gonna post a fake message on April 1st but I forgot about it and messed that up. I was going to write a message saying that I no longer supported Obama for president and through tons of research have decided that staying in Iraq is the best thing to do and I'd be voting for John McCain. I was also gonna say I'm really a holy roller and think homosexuality is a sin and all homo's and the people who enable a gay lifestyle are going to go to hell, also going to hell is anyone who has an abortion regardless of the reason why, there is never a good reason to kill another one of G-d's creatures. See, I also now have great respect for G-d and won't put His name into print (this is actually a practice of the Jewish religion). I was also going to state that I'm now a huge hypocrite because now as a member of the GOP I'm against killing an embryo because the Bible says it's wrong but I'm for killing a person who commits a crime. I also now believe that the Ten Commandments should be posted in every court system, oh and I no longer listen to Howard Stern...it's either Rush or nobody. I'll also only be watching Fox News Channel from now on and not the lefty channels like CNN, CNBC, ABC, CBS or anyone else who doesn't agree with me.
(oh by the way Clinton was the worst president ever.....Bush rules)
I don't think anyone would have bought it tho, so good thing I didn't write it.
ps after I wrote Bush rules I violently puked five times, even the thought of him makes me sick.
I know I've been putting up some lame blogs of nothing but filler but I've been pretty busy with work and the kids. I've got a bunch of pics from Easter on my phone but I can't find the card to put them on the computer. I'm making better efforts lately to get to work earlier and not fall back to sleep in the morning after Devin gets his bottle. So, I don't know if i had mentioned it earlier but last week we met with Alyssa's teacher for parent teacher meeting night. Alyssa is doing great, she said she's her most active student and is not lazy about learning. I can't believe how well she is doing with reading, she works very hard at trying to sound out words that she doesn't know and you can tell she uses the pictures in books to help her figure out what the page says. We just got our library cards validated in Wallingford which is good because they have a much better library than the one here. Altho, I haven't had as much time to read lately, I just finished "In the Dark of the Night" by John Saul and still have "the taking" but they are due on the 11th of April and I know I won't have time to finish it, Koontz books always take me longer than anyone else for some reason. Heather's grandmother just brought over a huge bag of books so maybe I'll look into those first before I start taking books out again. Devin is also doing well, he just had another well-baby visit and weighed in at 16lbs. He's a big boy for only 4 months, but he's now getting to the age where he laughs and smiles and talks alot more than he used to. He's been pointing lately to where he had a tooth coming in altho you can't really see it yet he knows it's there. so that's about it nothing else I really feel like commenting on right now, there is stuff going on in the news that I could talk about but I don't really feel like it right now, I'll just end with an oldie but a goodie
Think before you speak... Here are six reasons why you should think before you speak - The last one is great! Have you ever spoken and wished that you could immediately take the words back? Or that you could crawl into a hole? Here are the Testimonials of a few people who did....
FIRST TESTIMONY: I walked into a hair salon with my husband and three kids in tow and asked loudly, 'How much do you charge for a shampoo and a blow job?' I turned around and walked back out and never went back. My husband didn't say a word...He knew better.
SECOND TESTIMONY: I was at the golf store comparing different kinds of golf balls. I was unhappy with the women's type I had been using. After browsing for several minutes, I was approached by one of the good-looking gentlemen who works at the store. He asked if he could help me.
Without thinking, I looked at him and said, 'I think I like playing with men's balls'
THIRD TESTIMONY: My sister and I were at the mall and passed by a store that sold a variety of candy and nuts. As we were looking at the display case, the boy behind the counter asked if we needed any help.
I replied, 'No, I'm just looking at your nuts. My sister started to laugh hysterically.
The boy grinned, and I turned beet-red and walked away. To this day, my sister has never let me forget.
FOURTH TESTIMONY : While in line at the bank one afternoon, my toddler decided to release some pent-up energy and ran amok. I was finally able to grab hold of her after receiving looks of disgust and annoyance from other patrons. I told her that if she did not start behaving 'right now' she would be punished. To my horror, she looked me in the eye and said in a voice just as threatening, 'If you don't let me go right now, I will tell Grandma that I saw you kissing Daddy's pee-pee last night!' The silence was deafening after this enlightening exchange. Even the tellers stopped what they were doing. I mustered up the last of my dignity and walked out of the bank with my daughter in tow. The last thing I heard when the door closed behind me, were screams of laughter.
FIFTH TESTIMONY: Have you ever asked your child a question too many times? My three-year-old son had a lot of problems with potty training and I was on him constantly. One day we stopped at Taco Bell for a quick lunch, in between errands It was very busy, with a full dining room. While enjoying my taco, I smelled something funny, so of course I checked my seven-month-old daughter, she was clean.
Then realized that Danny had not asked to go potty in a while. I asked him if he needed to go, and he said 'No'. I kept thinking, 'Oh Lord, that child has had an accident, and I don't have any clothes with me. Then I said, 'Danny, are you SURE you didn't have an accident?' 'No,' he replied. I just KNEW that he must have had an accident, because the smell was getting worse. So, I asked one more time, ' Danny did you have an accident ? This time he jumped up, yanked down his pants, bent over, spread his cheeks and yelled 'SEE MOM, IT'S JUST FARTS!!' While 30 people nearly choked to death on their tacos laughing, he calmly pulled up his pants and sat down.
An older couple made me feel better, thanking me for the best laugh they'd ever had!
LAST BUT NOT LEAST TESTIMONY: This had most of the state of Michigan laughing for 2 days and a very embarrassed female news anchor who will, in the future, likely think before she speaks.
What happens when you predict snow but don't get any! We had a female news anchor that, the day after it was supposed to have snowed and didn't, turned to the weatherman and asked: 'So Bob, where's that 8 inches you promised me last night?' Not only did HE have to leave the set, but half the crew did too they were laughing so hard!
