I never do this but this is too good, I've never made a subject out of one of my readers or family members but I think it's a good story and brings up some good material for you all to comment on. Bill Cosby said this is one of his stand up acts "When you have kids, your parents aren't your parents anymore, they're just old people trying to get into heaven"
Now let me tell you a little story my family likes to call "The Popcorn Incident"
I must have been about 5 or 6 years old, much like my daughter. And we were at a dog show up in the Better Living Center on the fairgrounds in West Springfield, MA. In this building they have a little food stand/restaurant that sells hotdogs, hamburgers and most notably popcorn. I was walking with my parents and noticed that everyone in the place had popcorn and I didn't, and I mean everyone, it seemed that every where I turned I saw popcorn and even over all the smells of dog, all I could smell was popcorn. Now, I must say that I was a very patient lad and calmly and politely asked if I could get some popcorn, now my parents who at the time were my age and heading in their thirties must not have heard my very quiet request for some popped corn so I again declared my desire for pop corn, again no response. (Looking back I think they did respond but it wasn't the answer I was looking for therefore I didn't hear them), so I decided to make my request well known, perhaps if the other people saw how badly I wanted popcorn they would point it out to my parents and they would be forced to give in to my demands, so I slightly made my demand a bit louder, and as the answer of 'yes' was not coming I again raised my voice and made my demand louder. At some point this plan totally failed as I was carried out by my father some would say I was kicking and screaming, but I was simply stating that I would like some popcorn.
Now...lets fast forward about 21 years, and I'm 28 and have a 5 year old child, who upon visiting my parents house to see their puppies begins to cry as we leave because she wants to bring one home. Now to be fair to my parents I must state that the demand for a puppy didn't become great until after we left their house, so I can't blame them for falling for such a pathetic attempt to get one's way. My mother, the one who told me (as I'm sure your parents did too) to cut the crap when I cried for fell for it hook, line and sinker. As I read the email saying they did have some that weren't spoken for, and Alyssa could have one I laughed out loud...is this my mother or as Bill Cosby said merely an old person trying to get into heaven. As I'm writing this I'm already imagining what she's going to say to me in response and even at 28 I think all people still fear their mothers, which is why I did second guess writing this, but I'm sure having a sister 13 years younger than herself she can think of times her parents were easy on Trudee for something when she would have feared to do as a child. So anyway we left my parents house and the crying/nagging didn't stop until we got to Les' for ice cream to try and cool the situation. Almost immediately after finishing her chocolate dipped chocolate cone the demand for a puppy continued. And continued, and so on and so on. Now, I know that my parents are both laughing at this situation, and I know it doesn't compare to the 'popcorn incident' and it won't take on the name the 'puppy incident' but it's the closest I've got, so far. So good intentions by my mother in offering to help the situation and it is appreciated but it leads one to think....what will happen to me when I have grandchildren???

Happy Easter to everyone out there in blogland. I just put Alyssa to bed, she had one busy weekend. And there are a bunch of people downstairs and I'm taking this chance to hide out a bit cuz I hate having alot of people in a small space.....it bothers me alot. Anybody recognize this phrase? I believe it comes from a little document called The Declaration of Independence. Now what makes people happy? This is a question that can't be answered with some general answer because what makes me happy may not make you happy. I don't enjoy engaging in sex with men, not that I ever would, I just know that that is something I would not enjoy...but it makes others happy so 'so be it'. I'm happy that my daughter is in kindergarten altho I wish they didn't have to comply to 'no child left behind' laws and leave the kids who are having a hard time behind. My sister is happy homeschooling her kids, and so are 200,000 people in California who have just learned that it is now illegal. Altho it has been stated that this will most likely be overturned in an appeal as Gov.Schwarzenegger is against this ruling, so it seems to be just a small blip and nothing will come of this. It just amazes me how people who are such great Americans and all about freedom are only about the freedom that they think is appropriate, if they don't like it, it's wrong. Sorry but you can't have your cake and eat it too, that moron Limbaugh thinks if you're against the President and the Iraq debacle that you are 'Anti-American', I didn't know he was such a huge supporter of Clinton while he was in office, and his equally moronic 'yes-heads' will go along with anything he says,whether is makes sense or not, but that's freedom of speech. Now, these same people who like freedom of speech as it pertains to Rush wanted Howard Stern off the air....now how can that be, I thought they were for freedom of speech? What do you find more offensive making a song parody with farts to the tune of wipeout or calling Obama a 'halfrican-American' or pronouncing the mayor of New Orleans as Ray Nagger. If you are truly for freedom in America then why does homeschooling even have to be an issue? Is it destroying the kids' life by not subjecting them to the over-structured school system, I don't think so, it's not what I would do but if someone wants to do it then why not? I have the freedom to choose my own religion (don't worry I'm not getting on this again) and the freedom to call our president a retard, and the freedom to keep my children home if I so choose. I'm just so sick of all the hypocrites out there who are 'true-Americans' but don't want allow basic rights to ALL people regardless of race, religion, or sexual preference. I've got to end this here because I could go on all day.....

So the new pope has updated the list on seven deadly sins, altho the original 7 still apply Lust,Gluttony,Greed,Sloth,Wrath,Envy and Pride. Now does it mean that no matter how much you pray or believe or put in the collection plate you'll still go to hell if you are lazy or fat? So anyway Pope Hitler oh I mean Benedict stated these as social sins in an interview recently...let's see how many apply to George Bush just for the fun of it
1. Environmental Pollution- wow where do I start with this one, denying that we are destroying our earth and creating the greenhouse affect. Building bigger factories, reducing the emission laws that Clinton passed so companies won't have to lose some of their billions of surplus...great job. 2. Genetic Manipulation- well he is against stem-cell and abortion and I'm sure he's against birth control since he's a good whacko, this one is actually stupid and I see no problem with stem-cell research on human embryo's or aborting a birth when deemed necessary, I think this includes taking hormones to promote pregnancy, after all if God wanted it to happen it would have right? ha
3. Drug abuse & Trafficking- He's done lots of drugs, i think cocaine was his favorite I've heard
4. Violation of fundamental rights of human nature- How about the right to exist he's against that or isn't it human nature to pick a partner and marry, well he's against gays marrying so does that count
5. Contributing to widening divide between rich and poor - this is his whole policy making the rich richer and the poor poorer.
6. Excessive wealth- Yes Mr.Bush why am i paying 4.099/gal of diesel fuel...oh your family and friends are in the oil business i got it, ya know Mayor Bloomberg doesn't take pay cuz he's so rich he doesn't need it, how bout you
7. Morally debatable experiments- I don't know what exactly he's talking about here, probably cloning and stem cell research and crap like that....I wonder if Pope Benedict was against rounding up Jews to hand over to Dr.Mengele for debatable experiments oh but that was okay cuz he was just a kid, but he's still eligible to be Pope.... that's a debatable experiment.
So now there is no denying it according to the Pope who Georgie Boy loves he is going to hell, can't wait to meet him there
