 day 2

today is the 2nd day of vacation, so far, so good. I told Alyssa since it was sunny out today we'd go for a walk later either down 2nd ave to the beach or down elm to the library. she seems happy to go to either so that's good especially since the library is closer and our means of transportation is our feet (well i have a stroller that she can sit in if she gets tired). It's really not that far to the beach either, when i was jogging at night that's where i would go down to, it's about a mile and half from the house and the library is only about a mile maybe a little less. I was gonna take heather to work so I could keep the car, but I need to get some exercise anyway, I'm doing good with my eating but I'm usually active during the week at work so I have to keep that up. I've found I can easily fill myself up with water and coffee to keep me from being hungry, everyone says that drinking alot of water is essential in any diet and I can see why now, alot of times when people think they're hungry they are not, drinking water can stop that feeling and make you feel full for quite a while. well that's all for now, i'll probably update again later.

 time off and big changes

Well not huge changes, well kinda. Heather and I have begun well not really a diet but a new eating style, I'm trying to be much healthier in what I eat, I'm giving up fast food crap like Taco Bell and McDonalds and all of that stuff. Even tho I'm tired alot I'm going to try to go for jogs at night like I did last year, and I'm cutting down and hoping to stop smoking, altho I don't smoke much as it is, only about 6 or 7 a day. Today for breakfast (which is something I'm gonna try to have more often) I had an egg beaters omelet with fresh spinach and mushrooms, and we bought a bunch of stuff to make a giant salad to eat for the week. I'm also off this week, so this will be a big test as I tend to eat/smoke more when I'm home cuz I get bored. So I'm sure this will result in some weight loss, which is what I'm hoping for but mainly I just want to have a healthier lifestyle, heck I am almost 30 and with my family history of medical problems I gotta start doing something now. so i'm off this week cuz Alyssa has no school and there is no daycare because that runs with the school so here i am, i'll probably check in alot this week out of boredom.

 books and memories

For my birthday this year my parents gave me an amazon.com gift certificate, which i almost always get really...but I always have a hard time picking out stuff to get, alot of DVD's that I really want to see I can view from Netflix and most music I just get from limewire anyway. But, for some reason this year i had an urge to get back into reading.... I'm not sure why (altho Heather has been reading alot lately), and i don't really know any of the good authors anymore so I went the safe way and got a book of short horror stories by some of the new horror writers, hoping I'll find one that will peak my interest and wrote some full length novels. But I also pre-ordered a DVD about the 2007 Giants season, which doesn't release until the 29th, and since I wanted all of my products at once to save on shipping I won't be getting them until March 4th. I thought I could wait but I couldn't, so since Heather needed the next book in the Alex Cross series anyway we all went to Barnes and Noble where I bought a book by Micheal Crichton (sp) called 'prey' and have been pretty into it all day. I don't know exactly why I stopped reading, maybe in high school area when we were forced to read books that I had no interest in and it turned me off completely. Reading had been a big part of my childhood before that,my mother is an avid reader and always tried hard to get us into it, and we did. We would spend entire days when it was hot in the house in the summer at the library, and she would set up reading contests in the summer for us kids, altho I don't think there was ever a real prize. And i know that while raising a five year old who's just starting to read it's important to make reading look fun to encourage her (altho she doesn't need much encouragement, she loves books). She'll open one of her books and read 'the', 'and', 'am' 'I' and so on and she can sound out smaller words that don't require too much training in phonics. well i just realized I have no idea where I'm going with this post and I've just wasted alot of your time, as you've gained nothing from reading this.....um ok..........uh later

 Time for an update

altho not much is going on. Yesterday was like the worst day ever as far as weather goes, overnight we got about 2 inches of snow, which isn't a big deal, but then all day it down poured like a monsoon. We got about a months worth of rain in a day it was like being in Florida, except it was cold....and there was snow on the ground. The water in the yard at Arnco was so high it was coming over the top of some of the guys boots, and any little leak in your boots and it felt like you were just walking around in your socks. I had to break down and finally get my new boots which i haven't bought in about 2 years, 2008 being the third year. Our company gives us $100 a year to buy boots and I haven't in a long time, I don't know why...it doesn't cost me anything. so anyway i needed boots and new socks after walking around the yard for a while, there was nowhere to walk that it was safe from water. so that's about it, i'm not feeling well today so i took the day off, i'm sure i'll add another update later if I'm bored, but i'll probably sleep most of the day, i've had a cold and it just kicked into high gear today, maybe from walking around in cold, wet socks for a while until i had the chance to change my socks and boots. well that's it
