 Rhode Island in the winter

I was recently viewing my grandfathers site of pictures he has taken and they were amazing, anyway I told them I'd put up some of the pics I have of the world around us up on here if they fit, and they do! So these are from Narragansett, Rhode Island in late November. The beach is so much nicer in the winter, it's colder but it's quiet and easier to enjoy the view without all the people in the way.

Here's sunset at Heather's grandmother's cottage on Point Judith

Here's another cottage along Galilee Beach on Point Judith

and the winter sky over the beach

that's about it, it's looks so peaceful there it's hard to imagine the beach covered with hundreds of people when you see it in the winter

 big win

just a quick note to anyone following the Democratic Primaries, Obama took a big 78 delegates tonight by winning Washington State with nearly 65% of the vote and Nebraska with about 73%. What a close race this is, the biggest date is coming up on March 4th, with primaries in Rhode Island, Vermont,Texas and Ohio totaling 370 delegates. I believe after tonight Obama is either leading or just a few behind Hillary, I think he can win Texas and Ohio, he's done good in the mid-west so far, but the states that Hillary has won were huge wins. well either way at least we know Bush won't be there, and Hillary just happens to be married to one of the best presidents we've ever had. I'm just glad that Mitt dropped out of the race for the GOP, I don't mind McCain as much, at least he's smart and anyone who Rush Limbaugh supports I would never want as president anyway, and he and his 'yes-heads' supported Mitt. well that's all, again

 influenza runs rampant

So it started on superbowl sunday when we were at Pete's house watching the game. Ray left early to go to bed because he was sick, turns out he had the flu. On Tuesday night Alyssa started with a cough and went into a fever of about 101, Wednesday I took her to the doctor and he thought she just had a bad cold (her fever was down to 100.2), he said it's hard to diagnose in the first 24hrs because a virus like a cold can cause a fever just the same as an infection, the only difference being fevers that last longer than 24hrs. He took her out of school for the rest of the week and said to watch for more fevers, any more in the next 3 days and bring her back, he also gave her a prescription strength cough medicine. Thursday she spent with her aunt downstairs (who wasn't feeling too hot herself) and yesterday with Heather's mother, oh and her aunt went to the doctor yesterday after not feeling well still turns out she also has the flu which turned into walking pneumonia. So, on Friday while at her grandmothers Alyssa broke into another fever this one nearing 104, fast forward to today and a visit with Dr.Redding, she does have the flu (which we suspected on Wednesday) but it's too late to give her TamiFlu, because she seems to be at the end of it and as long as it keeps getting better as it has she can go back to school on monday. He also said to be super protective with Devin and any sign of a fever, even if it's 99 bring him right to the ER, so that's what's going on here, I'll be stocking up on my vitamins this week and taking extra vitamin C, maybe I should get some airborne. Anyone else out there ever have a child under a year while flu was running thru the house? I know my brother and I had pneumonia when we were kids but so far none of that up here. Nothing we haven't battled before, when Alyssa was 3 she had a bad case of bronchitis, so that's all, hopefully everyone will be back to health soon.

 end of an era

It's now 10:47 pm, by the time everyone reads this tomorrow I will no longer be 27, barely holding onto the title of mid twenties, 28 is no where near 'mid twenties' it's far too close to '30's'. So even tho i should have admitted this last year I am now in my late twenties, i know, i know i'm being a bit over dramatic. I'm sure everyone out there in their forties, fifties and sixties are wondering what my problem is, I'm still quite young, I suppose I am and I should be looking forward to being 28, but still i wonder if i'll have to give up my spiderman obsession (alyssa and I watched #3 again today), or stop constantly playing Madden in franchise mode (altho my mother who's 22 years older than me is enthralled with world of warcraft). So, I say no, 28 is not the end of all of that, in the end it's just another number, is 28 really that different from 21? I don't feel any different (well just a bit more sore). I had Alyssa when i was 22 and matured alot after that, i went from drinking about 6 beers daily to about 6 monthly if even that, partying till 2am turned into crossword puzzles till 11 then falling asleep on the couch, no it's not these numbers that are making me older i've realized (i work with a guy who's 34 and still parties like he's 21) it's the kids. Nothing makes you grow up quick like having a kid, and when you have another in your late twenties you go right up to 30's......i think we gotta stop with Devin, i can't afford to get much older.

 wow wow wow

I've been listening to the recap and post-hype all day today, and everyone agrees the last scoring drive that Eli Manning put together to give NY the win will go down as the greatest drive in SuperBowl history, even better than Montana leading the 49ers and hitting Clark in the endzone to beat the Bengals, because this drive had a 4 and 1 and perhaps the greatest play and greatest catch ever in a superbowl (or any game for that matter). This upset may be the biggest ever because even tho the Pats were 14 point underdogs against the Rams, Jets 18 pts under Baltimore and Denver 14pt underdogs to Green Bay, none of them had to play a 18-0 team, with the number one offense, and were considered the dynasty of the new millennium. The '07 Giants are a team built on rookies and players who nobody wanted, Plaxico Burress tossed aside by Pittsburgh a few years ago, Antonio Pierce from Washington, Corey Webster was drafted by NY but the fans were tired of him not living up to his #1 pick status and most of all Eli Manning the first overall pick in the 2004 draft by the San Diego Chargers who four picks later was traded to NY. Eli has been playing in his brothers shadow, who is a future first ballot hall of famer. Eli would put up big numbers for a few games then throw 4 picks and complete a horrible 48% the next game, his inconsistency drove the fans crazy and some wanted him out of New York, but he silenced all of his critics (for now at least), and for the first time since 1990 the New York Giants are Super Bowl Champions again. congrats big blue, here's looking forward to 2008.

here's a video i found of the final drive for the TD it's pretty crude but it's all that's available right now, i'll look for a better one later.
