Life of Bryan

 week in review

Been a busy week around here, actually just a tiring one, per usual. Devin is really starting to come out of that just sit and stare phase, he's been cooing more and smiling when you talk to him. Alyssa is doing good, she's recognizing more words and doing a good job at sounding stuff out, she said they are going to start having more homework as they prepare to enter first grade. I can't believe there's only 6 months of school left and she's gonna be a first grader soon. Devin is getting so big some of his 0-3 outfits don't fit him anymore, he's not even 2 months old yet. It's gonna be cold next week, which i'm kinda happy about, i don't mind working in the cold, and it's not supposed to really snow, just a few flurries. This is the kind of winter I like, thaws every now and then, some cold weather and not alot of snow or ice. well devin is up gotta jet

 license to breed

I've realized since I became a father 5 years ago that alot of stupid people have kids and are ignorant about the basics of raising a child. Did anyone here see Supernanny the other week? These parents have 4 kids two girls about 16 and two boys about 5 or 6 area, the parents are the teenage girls, they are expected to do all the house chores and take care of the boys while the parents are gone and even after the parents come home the girls are still in charge of the boys with little to no help from the parents. A few years ago I was working in the Trumbull Mall and was walking thru the parking garage when I spotted a mother with a 3 year oldish son and a friend of hers, the kid (with shoes untied) takes off and goes running thru the garage while the mother (i'll use this term loosely) talks to her friend. I shouted "hey your kid is running" and start to move towards the kid, the mother shouts back to the child "Hey, i told you not to run with your shoes untied, i hope you fall on your f***ing face, teach you!" Not minding of course that this kid who is shorter than all the cars in the parking lot is running away while she stands there shouting. Case #2 i was working in Waterbury taking down the old Shaws letters, a mother and son again are in the parking lot, the kid starts to dance around like he has to pee (he's about 8), the mother (again i'll use it loosely) says to him 'oh no we just came outta that store, we ain't going back in so you can pee, you'll have to wait' to which the kid replied 'but i gotta go', she say's back to him 'then go in your f***ing pants i don't give a s***'. while she loads groceries in the back of the car he walks out to the front and with no cars around him pulls down his pants and starts to pee right in the parking lot. I stood amazed for a moment and said "uh ma'am your son is peeing in the lot" she looked up and said 'mind your own f***in' business. Case #3....one of Alyssa's friends in adopted, so is her brother...they both have the same mother but not the same father. The mother is a drug addict and incapable of raising children, so when DCF does check up on her and finds out she's pregnant they tell her 'you can't keep this child, we'll take it after you deliver' and they do 3 times now!! I'm all for right to procreate but this is ridiculous, how can this parents just not care about what kind of damage they are doing to their kids, just because the first cases I talked about were in Bridgeport and Waterbury (low income areas) doesn't mean you can raise your kids to be animals. This is why the ghetto's are getting worse and worse and why schools need metal detectors. These parents today are all raised by baby boomers who in turn were raised (by today's standards)in a strict setting, so where did the laziness come from? Now us Gen Xers are the parents and it's time to do something about this, I go to bed at 11pm and kids are walking the streets still, causing mischief or playing loudly. There was a shooting a few months ago at 1 am, a 15 year old boy was shot while riding his bike at 1 am, in a bad section of New Haven! When i was 18 i had to be home by 12! I don't know and i could go on and on about this forever, so i'm gonna let it go for now and if you have any stories of moronic parents feel free to send them over.

 too much

i actually have alot of things to talk about, i've just been too lazy and tired lately to do anything about it. I have topics like the presidential primaries, why you should need a license to have kids, what's been going on around here lately, Pat Robertson had his usual New Year conversation with God, and much, much more. So what's it gonna be....okay cuz it's quicker here's the Pat Robertson thing

how come most people God talks to are in mental institutions, like when schizophrenics kill people and they said God made them do it, no one belives them, this is not fair if you ask me. So anywho from what i've heard he predicts a rough year...oil will go up (most likely) a republican will win the whitehouse (probably cuz this country doesn't learn from it's mistakes) and there will be a recession (well of course there will be! we'll have a republican in the white house to send our jobs away and give the rich tax breaks and the poor and labor unions get shit)

which brings me to another topic real quick... Huckabee is for abolishing income tax, sounds like a good idea in theory but they would make a "fair tax" which would be a 25-30% national sales tax. Another way to make life easier and more 'fair' for the rich, it's much easier for people with lower incomes to have $100 come out of their paychecks every week than have to pay $400 for a weeks worth of groceries or clothing for christmas or what not. On the other hand is the "more you make, more we take" way very fair either, no not really, i don't see why they can't just have a fixed amount that everyone can agree on, i dunno maybe i just don't know enough about the subject.

so in closing Pat Robertson is a moron and so is Huckabee and i'm tired and going to bed
