Life of Bryan

 a victory

today is the first playoff game (and hopefully not the last) for the NY Giants, they are visiting the Bucs....but a few days ago there was another victory that i was hoping for

on to New Hampshire, for another victory. I'm also a fan of Edwards and he's seemed to form somewhat of an alliance with Obama, he talked about it a bit on George Stephanopoulos this morning, I'd love to see these guys get together after the primaries, i know if Obama doesn't win Edwards will, as long as Hilary doesn't i'm happy.

 2008 is here

Last night we had our new years eve celebration, and believe it or not Alyssa actually stayed up the whole time and rang in the new year with us. Wasn't a big crowd or anything just us and Heidi and Jimmy from the 1st floor. We made a bunch of appetizer type stuff like shrimp cocktail, buffalo chicken tenders, popcorn chicken, chilli dip and chips and a veggie tray. Heidi has a table hockey game called Nok Hockey so we played that for a long while, Alyssa beat me once 5-3 (she's pretty good) later in the night, Jimmy and I went to get some beer because we didn't have any which is strange for my house. then we played nok hockey for shots of vodka, originally i thought the shot would be taken by whoever lost, but it was more fun to take a shot everytime you gave up a goal. Jimmy quickly went up 4-1 and after those 4 shots of vodka i changed to gulps of beer. So i still haven't broken my goal to not get crazy drunk, I was only feeling a bit tipsy. so we all watched Dick Clarks Rockin' Eve and saw the ball drop and Alyssa was excited to see 2008 was here, then Heather brought her up to bed. We finished up the night with a round of 'guitar hero' on jimmy's ps2 and at about 3am we were up to bed after giving Devin a bottle and dreading the fact that he'd be up in 4hrs for another one..needless to say except for getting up to give him bottles and fix cereal for Alyssa we were in bed till 10 this morning while alyssa watched tv in our bed with us. so that's about it, we rested most of the day and it's back to work tomorrow.

 Nifty Fifty!!!

my mother is turning 50 on January 1st!!!! Be sure to go over to her blog and wish her a happy birthday www.nutmegakitas.com/news. so here's some of the things that happened in 1958 the year she was born

***In 1958 (the year you were born)***

Dwight Eisenhower is president of the US

The first US earth satellite, Explorer I, goes into orbit

Rocker Jerry Lee Lewis marries his 13 year old second cousin, Myra Brown

The "Quiz Show Scandals" rock the television industry and the nation

Vice President Richard Nixon faces hostile anti-American mobs during a visit to South America

14 year old Bobby Fischer wins the United States Chess Championship

Ellen DeGeneres, Michael Jackson, Ice-T, and Mark Cuban are born

New York Yankees win the World Series

Baltimore Colts win the NFL championship

Montreal Canadiens win the Stanley Cup

Breakfast at Tiffany's by Truman Capote is published

Elvis Presley enters the U.S. Army

Movies: Gigi, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Me and the Colonel

Songs: Catch a Falling Star, Chipmunk Song, Volare, The Purple People Eater, At the Hop

TV Shows: You Asked for It, Wagon Train, To Tell the Truth, The Rifleman, Donna Reed Show, Have Gun Will Travel

Funny to see the chipmunk song was a hit in 1958 and now the movie is out 50 years later, and I thought it took them a long time to put out the Simpsons movie. Here's a blurb from Wikipedia about people born during the 'baby boom'

'The baby boomers were the first group to be raised with televisions in the home, and television has been identified as "the institution that solidified the sense of generational identity more than any other."[7] Starting in the 1940s, people in diverse geographic locations could watch the same shows, listen to the same news, laugh at the same jokes. Television shows such as Father Knows Best and Leave it to Beaver showed idealized family settings. Later, the boomers watched scenes from the Vietnam War and the assassinations of John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Robert F. Kennedy.

The boomers found that their music, most notably rock and roll, was another expression of their generational identity. Transistor radios were personal devices that allowed teenagers to listen to The Beatles and The Motown Sound.'

so that's all for now

 goodbye to 2007

2008 is on it's way, so 2007 was a pretty good year. trying to think of some stuff that happened in the Cohen house that was big...well of course first of all Devin was born on Nov 27 and Alyssa turned 5 this year, and had a HUGE party to celebrate. We rented a bounce house, cotton candy machine (which i ran((pretty well too i must say)), and a snow cone machine which i also ran. Let's see what else happened...well Heather was pregnant for most of the year, from March till November. I worked alot of hours, I started working weekends and according to my last pay check i made alot more than i did last year almost $4,000 altho i have no idea where that money goes. I started my blog in this year, yah. I got a tatoo on my right arm of celtic banding with the zodiac sign for cancer in the middle of it for Alyssa, that was in july i believe. In January or February i swore i was never gonna get drunk again after a bad night at the Playwright in New Haven, then went back on that in September haha. but really haven't drank since that, maybe a glass of wine or two at christmas. Along with Devin we had an different addition earlier in the year when Harley joined our house to replace Eggnog who died mid-year. Also in mid-year we took our first cross country road trip when we drove to visit my sister and family in Florida. That was a fun trip, we went down via Asheville,NC and it took forever to get there, we hit heavy rain and thunderstorms on our first day and it slowed us down alot, the drive was very boring too down I-81. We came home 95 and it was much easier and quicker, except when we got lost in Richmond trying to find our hotel, and when we called them for directions they didn't seem to know where they were located. Right before we left for Florida Heather and I had our reception party to celebrate our marriage the August before,we had it at Eli's and it was a buffet brunch, I think that all went well. So all in all it was a busy year for us, deaths and births and marriage and driving 15 hrs straight, so here's to 2008 hopefully it won't be as busy as 2007 was.
