Life of Bryan

 A fall classic

About 5 years ago we moved down here to West Haven, and yes we still do alot of things in the northern central part of the state and some people don't understand why, but it's just cuz that's where we're from. I still drive to the Meriden/Middlefield line to cut down my tree even tho there's plenty of places around here to get one, it's just a tradition and where I went as a kid so I'll gladly drive 30mins north to cut a tree down. The other thing I must always do in the fall season is take the trip to Middlefield to Lyman Orchards, yes there are very nice orchards in Branford but they're not Lymans. So we headed up there today to get Alyssa a pumpkin and pick up a few other New England goodies. We first took her on the hay ride, which for some reason no longer includes hay, when i was a kid i remember sitting on actual bails, but now it's a bench seat, either way Alyssa loved it. Then to the pumpkin patch (this was a battle). every pumpkin she wanted wasn't able to stand on it's own because it was so mis-shapen, then when we picked one that was very good she would refuse (cuz it's only good if she picks it out) we finally agreed on a good 7 pounder which we will carve tomarrow. then off to the good stuff...the Apple Barrel Store, where we picked up....6 apple cider glazed and 6 apple cider cinnamon and sugar donuts, a caramel-walnut apple pie, some cotton candy for Alyssa, Red Raspberry Preserves, heather bought some granny-smith apples to make a pie, a half gallon of apple cider, a brownie for alyssa and a few small bottles of apple cider for the ride home. I was gonna get some hot apple cider, cuz anyone who's lived in New England and been outside on one of these windy 60 degree crisp days knows that nothing is better than hot apple cider but i didnt' see it. I don't care what anyone says no one does fall like New England. so anywho we also bought some feed for the ducks outside in the pond, and i got a quick photo of Alyssa sitting up in a tree near the duck pond. So it was a pretty good day overall, the Giants also won their game in London against the Dolphins altho it was a very boring game, but for my first Sunday off in 3 weeks it was much better being with the fam at the orchard that working. here's a pic of Alyssa in the tree at the orchards

I'm in kinda of a weird mood today so i've got some strange picks here for my songs of the day. First is 'White and Nerdy' by Weird Al Yankovic

and for a bit of retro (well for kids of the 90's anyway) here's the theme song from the cartoon "Animaniacs" this was such a great show

 Friday night party

haha. Alyssa's school had a Family Masquerade Halloween Party tonight. It ran from about 7pm -9pm altho we left a little bit early cuz we didn't have time to grab dinner before the party so we headed out around 830 to get something quick to eat. When we first got there Alyssa didn't seem so into it, but once the music started and she did a few dances she was a bit better. The party was for the whole school and there weren't many kindergardeners (wow that's a long word((and probably spelled wrong))they had a crafts table with some small pumpkins, paper masks to color, foam stickees, and markers and glue sticks. so alyssa made a small pumpkin and I stuck a octopus foamy thing to my head and she colored it in. then i colored in a mask for her spiderman style. she wore her Halloween costume which is a girl vampire, kinda like a vampire of the old days tho like in the original Dracula book. For an outfit we bought her a gypsy's costume so it looks old style then she has her fangs and fake blood dripping from her mouth of course. I'll get a picture of her on Halloween for the blog on Wed. well that's all for now

 man i hate tuesday

I've posted about this before, I'm not a big Tuesday fan, it's usually the worst day of the week for me. Altho, today was a great day, I finished all of my stops by 4:30 and even had time to stop at Alyssa's last soccer practice. I was really happy I made all of my stops because I noticed all of the respond dates on my service calls had passed, and I spent alot of time at a KFC in Norwalk, apparently nothing there has worked for a while. I really get happy when I know I have 4 service stops that are late and I can get them cleared, not all of mine cleared today but I was able to diagnose and let the office put in bids to finish the job, so that was good.

In other news, only 4 kids showed up for the last practice of the fall season, hopefully more show up for the last game. The last 2 games there has been a number of girls missing, but they're having a party at the end of this game so hopefully more will show up. I got Heather like 2 dozen roses for our anniversary the other day and they are massive now, the white ones are seriously 4 inches from end to end of the bloom. I still refer to 10/22 as our anniversary even tho we're married now and our new anniversary is 8/18, but anywho we've been together for 11 years now, hard to believe, time goes by so fast. Devin is just barely over a month away from making his grand arrival. boy oh boy am I gabby tonight, well off to bed

 another long sunday

I had to work on another sunday, which I guess is okay since I signed up for it, it was just a long day like last weekend I didn't get home until 3:30 this afternoon. On saturday Alyssa's team lost for only the 2nd time this season so they're 4-2, it's not too bad cuz she thinks that they won. They went up 2-0 in like the first 3 mins of the game and it was 2-1 at halftime. In the 3rd period the other team tied it at 2 and they scored twice in the 4th period. I could have been worse cuz the other team had like 20 shot on goal, when usually Alyssa's team does that. so next week is the last game of the fall season then they're gonna have a little party and a parents-kids game. I can't upload the pictures from her game on here cuz they're too big but I'm gonna try to link them from photobucket. We picked up a few more things for Devin this weekend so now we just need a bassinet and some onesies and such. So here's a pic from one of Alyssa's games, she's number 11, I'm not sure which pic I put on here so let's see if this works
