Today is Alyssa's 6th birthday. Hard to believe she is six years old already. Lets go back a bit to 2001 when we first learned of the coming child. About two months after 9/11 Heather told me that she was pregnant, I was a little shocked to say the least, but we were both happy. That was all that mattered at the time and even tho we were engaged we decided not to get married before the baby came. I still think it was one of the best decisions we made.
So fast forward a few months and we are anxiously waiting for July 12th (which was her original due date), we had a name picked out Victoria Michelle (but we were gonna call her Torrie), in the event it was a boy we had Hunter Matthew, or just Matthew, i think (strangely enough we used neither when we finally had a boy). Anyway we found out it was a girl and began using the name Torrie whenever referring to the child in utero, I don't remember when but not long after her name was changed to Alyssa Nichol.
It was getting to be early July and little Alyssa had made no progress in wanting to come out, she still hadn't dropped and was due in twelve days. I still remember installing Lady Foot Locker in Westfarms with my brother and getting the call from Heather who was seeing the OB and wanted to know what day would be best to be induced. We chose Wednesday, July 10th.
After checking in to the hospital at 6:30 in the morning and spending the whole day watching TV, walking the maternity ward and going down the hall to Dunkin about ten times at 11:08 pm we finally had a child!

So now six years later we have a young lady (who could beat up half the boys in her class) So, in a nutshell that's the story of Alyssa
